Adding SMTP Auth

If you use your Cove dialup account for Internet access and have an email address ending with "@cove.com", you need to change a setting in your email program before July 1.

You can send mail after this settings change now, so please do this as soon as is convenient.

Changing this setting is an easy process and should only take a minute. This tutorial shows the seven steps to making this change in Outlook Express. If you use another email program and are unsure how to make this change, please contact our Tech Support Team at 800-841-2683.

Step 1. Open your Outlook Express.

Step 2. Click on Tools and then on Accounts.

Step 3. Make sure your Cove mail account is highlighted in the window and click on the Properties button.

If you have more than one Cove mail account, you will need to make this change to all of them. You can tell which ones are Cove mail accounts by highlighting each account, clicking on the Properties button and looking at the E-mail address.

Accounts Window

The Properties window will open.

Step 4. Then click on the Servers tab. Continue only if your Outgoing mail (SMTP) server shows mail.cove.com. Otherwise, stop; there is nothing you need to do.

Step 6. Click on the circle next to "Use same settings as my incoming mail server." Then click on the OK button.
