Netscape Communicator

Step 1

Open Netscape Communicator. Click on the Edit pull-down menu, move your cursor down to Message Filters. Click on Message Filters.

Step 2

The Message Filters window will now appear.

Be sure "Inbox" is selected in the Filters for: panel as shown.

Click on the New button.

Step 3

Type SPAM? in the Filter name: panel, as shown.

Type {SPAM?} in the panel to the right of "contains," as shown.

Make sure your Filter Rules window has the same settings as this example.

Now you can either move e-mail identified as spam to another mailbox (Steps 4 though 6) or just delete it (Steps 7 and 8).

 

Step 4

Click on the New Folder button in the Filter Rules window (shown in Step 3). This will produce a New Folder window.

Type SPAM? in the Name: panel as shown.

Click on the down arrow to the right of the Create as subfolder of: panel and scroll down to Local Mail. Click on Local Mail.

Step 5

You are almost done.

Click on the OK button.

Step 6

Click on the OK button.

Congratulations! You now have a SPAM? filter that will put any messages with {SPAM?} in the subject line into your new SPAM? folder. You can view these messages and save any legitimate ones.

If you want to just delete all e-mail identified as possible spam, complete the steps below.

 

Step 7

Select "Trash" from the panel as shown.

Make sure your settings are the same as shown here.

Click on the OK button.

Just click on the OK button and you're done!
