New Web Hosting Platform

Inside this issue:

We are installing a sophisticated, yet easy to use control panel for our web hosting customers this summer.

This control panel, called H-Sphere, provides a fully automated web hosting platform.

Web hosting customers will be able to report problems through an enhanced trouble ticket system, control the “look and feel” of their control panel and change their account settings, including their hosting plan, billing period, billing

profile and disk and traffic quotas.

The control panel also provides a full set of web

hosting tools, including a user-friendly, graphical web site builder called Site Studio, a state-of-the-art web reporting system called Urchin, a web site promotion tool called Kanoodle, a password protection utility and a tool for website registration with major search engines.

The control panel also enables customers to manager their email accounts; adding or removing email addresses, changing passwords,

TimeCheck

Our new TimeCheck software was completed and installed a few weeks ago.

The new TimeCheck enables you to view your dial-up usage (i.e., number of calls,

total time spent online and the total amount of traffic sent and received) by entering your login name and the month you want to view, going back as far as January 2004.

You can access TimeCheck from its link on our Administrivia page.

viewing messages through a sophisticated webmail interface, setting up autoresponders, etc.

We will also be making

changes to our web hosting plans in the near future. Following in-depth market research we will become much more aggressive in our pricing and hosting options.

Although this new platform is only available to our web hosting customers, we are considering the feasibility of making the control panel available to our tech support

team. This would automate the management of services for all Cove customers and allow everyone to use the system's webmail and billing interfaces.

Help Desk Notes

SysAdmin's Corner

It was a quiet month at the help desk.

Most calls were for setup information.

If you ever need help, please select tech support (Option 2) if you call our main office. This

will enable you to get our dialup access numbers, email settings or our toll-free help desk number.

Please remember, our help desk team is available to you 24 hours a day and the direct, toll free number is
877-221-2116.

This was a quiet month on the network.

Our upstream providers reported no outages and our servers had no downtime.

We are now preparing several temporary servers to handle web hosting and mail services

for our web hosting customers while their regular servers are being reconditioned and installed with the H-Sphere platform.

Work continues on our primary incoming mail server; fine-tuning Spam Assassin rules for fighting spam.

New Subscriber Referral Promotion!

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet or On-line service?

Why not do them and yourself a favor?

Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!

They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.

Again this month, over a dozen subscribers are getting their access in June for free - just by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!

Did You Know?

Lately our mail server has been getting large spikes in email activity; receiving up to 10,000 messages per hour.

We normally receive an average of 4,000 messages per hour, of which only 100 are not spam.

You can watch these stats at http://patrol.cove.com/mailcheck/.
