MailCheck News

Inside this issue:

As you know, we have been providing spam and virus email filtering for Cove subscribers through our MailCheck service for almost a year.

Since we have received rave reviews about MailCheck from our subscribers, we decided to offer this service to others.

Starting in September, we are also offering this service to any organization with their own domain name.

Press releases about our MailCheck service are being sent to the local chambers of commerce and newspapers.

We are now developing a web page which will display our email statistics by total incoming messages, messages rejected from known spam sites, messages discarded from known high-volume spam sites, messages processed by MailCheck, spam messages found and virus-infected messages found.

You will be able to view this page at http://mrtg.cove.com/mrtg/MailCheck.

Contract Renewals

Our contract with Verizon for the access lines in Salem and Gloucester will soon be up for renewal.

We are negotiating with other access line providers while talking with Verizon about

renewing the contract.

There may be a change in how you login to our network, depending on how these negotiations progress.

Of course, we will give plenty of advance notice of any changes.

We will have more on this topic in the next newsletter.

Enhanced Email Services

We are developing a few improvements to our email services.

There have been a few requests for autoreplies or “vacation” messages;

automatic replies to email stating that the addressee is unavailable and will personally reply when they return.

Currently, only our virtual mail server customers are able to

request autoreplies, but we will soon be able to offer this to all subscribers.

We are also working on a web interface that would enable you to change your

password for retrieving email.

If you have any other ideas on how we can improve our services to you, please let us know!

Help Desk Notes

SysAdmin's Corner

It was another quiet month at the help desk.

Again, most calls were for account setup information.

If you ever need help, please select tech support if you call

our main office numbers. This will enable you to get our access numbers, email settings or talk with someone at our help desk.

Remember, the tech support team is available 24 hours a day and the direct, toll free number is
877-221-2116.

This was another quiet month on the network as well. None of our upstream providers had any incidents to report.

Our new, long-awaited-for web server will be installed this month! This new server boasts two 800-Mhz PIII processors and 2 Gb RAM.

We have installed the latest version of Apache, mod-ssl for secure web hosting, Perl 5.6.1 and PHP 4.2.2 for scripting and mySQL and postgreSQL for database support.

New Subscriber Referral Promotion!

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet or On-line service?

Why not do them and yourself a favor?

Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!

They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.

Again this month, over a dozen subscribers are getting their access in September for free - just by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!

You can find out how much time you have been logged in to our network for the current and past month on our web site.
