New Phone System

Inside this issue:

For close to a year now, we have had MAP Mobile answer your phone calls. They have then either directed you to our tech support team or paged us with your message.

This setup has sometimes caused confusion, so we decided to purchase a new phone system to handle your calls.

Our new phone system will guide you through a brief series of menus to get you to your

desired destination. For example, we will now provide commonly asked for information (e.g., our dialup access numbers and email settings) via menu options.

Of course, you will also be able to get through to a live person between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday and have 24 hour access to our toll-free tech support line, 877-221-2116.

We will be experimenting with the menu options for the first few weeks and any suggestions for improvements will be greatly appreciated.

Other Upgrades

The new version of Cove's WebMail is almost completed, but there are still a few bugs to be worked out. We anticipate having the new version available by mid-April.

We are still waiting for a few ram modules to arrive for the new router, so we have postponed the installation of that router for another few weeks. Again, the router

upgrade will be done over a weekend to minimize network downtime and everyone will be alerted via email prior to the downtime.

Domain Name Renewal Scam

There are an increasing number of domain name renewal scam incidents being played on unsuspecting domain owners.

Some companies send a letter (sometimes email, sometimes postal) to a domain owner thanking them for either registering, or renewing their domain name. The letter will also invite them, in language

that suggests a prior business relationship exists, to make some change to the domain, or to renew it, which would result in the name being transferred to the new company.

To protect our customers, we will be implementing a domain “locking” system, which will prevent these companies from moving your domain without your express consent.

Help Desk Notes

SysAdmin's Corner

It was another quiet month at the help desk.

Again, most calls were for account setup information.

If you ever need help, please ask for tech support if you call

our main office numbers. This will help the answering service properly route your call.

Remember, the tech support team is available 24 hours a day and the direct, toll free number is
877-221-2116.

This was another quiet month on the network as well. None of our upstream providers had any incidents to report.

The new web server arrived later than expected and we are still conducting tests, so the anticipated launch date

has been rescheduled for mid-April.

We just installed a new Real media server, which serves streaming audio and video.

Our next project will be the router upgrade we mentioned in last month's newsletter.

New Subscriber Referral Promotion!

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet or On-line service?

They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.

Again this month, over a dozen subscribers are getting their access in April for free - just by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!
