More Virus Alerts

A new virus hit the Internet on September 18 and rapidly infected computers all over the world.
This new virus, called the Nimda virus, is much like other viruses in that it propagates through email, however, this virus can also infect your computer via web sites if you are using an older version of Internet Explorer.
Industry experts agree that we can anticipate many more viruses in the future.
We have noticed that one or more subscriber's computers are infected with viruses at this moment. We are trying to identify these subscribers and will contact them once we are able.
The time has come to install an anti-virus software package if you have not already done so!
We recommend you install the AVG anti-virus program-it is easy to use, effective and free. You can download it from www.grisoft.com.
Please do it today!

American Tragedy

We send our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the senseless act of terrorism that occurred last month.
We share the grief and outrage that has permeated our nation in the wake of that atrocity.
We also condemn that wanton violence and all who seek in any way, shape or form to promote their selfish agendas by it.
God Bless America

Anti-Spam Consequences

In our efforts to combat spam, we block all incoming email from ISPs we have identified that irresponsibly allow spammers to relay spam through their network to our network.
Occasionally, however, there are legitimate users on that ISP's network that are trying to send email to our users and their messages also get blocked.
We have the ability to allow only certain users' email in while still blocking the spam being relayed through an ISP.
If you know of someone who is unable to send you email, please send a message to admin@cove.com with their email address included, so we can allow their email to get through to you.

Help Desk Notes

It was another quiet month at the help desk.
Most calls were for account setup information.
Our new support team now handles all tech support issues and they continue to get rave reviews!
We should be finishing up their provisioning software by the end of this month.
The tech support team is available 24 hours a day and the toll free number is 877-221-2116.

SysAdmin's Corner

The network performed without incident and our upstream providers had nothing to report.
Several new battery backup power supplies were installed and our network monitoring now sends an alert to our technician's beeper in the event of an outage. These improvements should help to prevent any extended downtime in the future due to power outages.
We are also adding another ethernet in Salem to support several new web servers being installed over the next few months.

Subscriber Referral Program

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet/On-line service?
Why not do them and yourself a favor?
Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!
They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.
Again this month, over a dozen subscribers are getting their access in October for free - by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!
