WebMail

We now have a web-based email service! This new mail service is the first of many services developed in Java that we plan on offering our customers.
Our web-based email service enables you to send new messages, view messages in your inbox and forward or reply to those messages from any browser connected to the Internet.
You can access this service through the link in the Administrivia Section of our web site or by pointing any browser to https://java.cove.com/WebMail. Please note that this is a secure interface, using https instead of http. You must use https, or you will be unable to securely access the service.
The first time you access this interface, your browser will advise you that it does not recognize the Certificate Authority. This is because it is a self-signed certificate, signed by Cove Communications. You can trust this certificate.
The sole purpose for the security is to protect your account name and password when logging in and to provide privacy while sending and receiving messages.
It is intended to be used when you are traveling and are away from your computer. It is not meant as a replacement to your normal email client program.
This is the first public version of the service. We are planning to add several more features to this interface and welcome any suggestions for improvements.

ICRA Label

A few subscribers noticed that we have a new label on our homepage. Some thought that maybe we had been bought out.
No, we haven't been bought out; we are the same company we've always been. :)
The new label is just a “road sign” for parents telling them that our web site is safe for children to surf.
The Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) is the internationalized version of the US-based RSAC. The ICRA took over the RSAC charter in 1999.
The content labels generated by the ICRA work with browsers to block access to web sites containing material not suitable for viewing by children and enabling access to web sites without such material.

Help Desk Notes

It was another quiet month at the help desk.
The majority of calls were to help setup new computers and extra email accounts.
We continue to receive compliments about our new tech support team and are developing a system for them to support our subscribers with instant service provisioning.
Our support team is available 24 hours a day and the toll free number is 877-221-2116.

SysAdmin's Corner

We had an extended power outage from 11:45 p.m. on 8/10 to 3:00 a.m. on 8/11.
We are not normally affected by power outages, as our battery backups last over two hours and most power outages only last around 20 minutes.
In addition, our network monitoring did not alert us to the outage as it usually would, since our phones were also down.
All systems were reset once we received the alert. We will now be alerted of any future outages via cell phone.

Subscriber Referral Program

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet/On-line service?
Why not do them and yourself a favor?
Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!
They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.
Again this month, over a dozen subscribers are getting their access in September for free - by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!

Internet Training

Have you seen our new web-based training packages?
They are convenient, up-to-date, and very inexpensive.
