24 Hour Help Desk

We have maintained basically the same office schedule for several years. Steve is usually available during regular business hours and Bill handles calls during the evenings, weekends and holidays.
Beginning this month, we are adding a 24 hour help desk to our list of services.
Our help desk is available through a toll free number; enabling you to reach a real person - any time of day, any day of the year.
The help desk staff are trained technicians and are highly qualified to provide you with technical support on any issue related to using our network and services.
The help desk's toll free number will soon be added to our web site and voice mail greetings for your convenience.
Steve will continue to be available during regular business hours.
Bill will be concentrating on software development projects and new additional services for our customers.

New Gaming Page

Life may not be all fun and games - but our new web page is!
We have been collecting several of the best web-based gaming programs and links to challenging gaming sites throughout the web.
This month we are putting them all together on a web page dedicated to gaming.
You will be able to find our new gaming page in the Internet section of our main web site.

Scheduled Downtime

We are scheduling downtime for several servers in Salem. This brief downtime will be on Saturday, February 10, in the afternoon.
This downtime is needed to install new backup power supplies for those servers.
The servers affected by this downtime are our NT (web and Real) servers, Silicon Graphics media servers, radius and terminal servers and a few auxiliary servers.
The downtime on our radius and terminal servers will cause an inability to login throughout the network and will prevent access to the network from Salem. All access services will be fully restored within a few minutes.

Help Desk Notes

It was another quiet month at the help desk. We hope the new help desk staff have something else to do with their time!
Some subscribers continue to try logging in using their real names.
Please remember; you must login using your user name (your email address without the @cove.com part).
As always, if you have any trouble, please call us.
We're here to help you!

SysAdmin's Corner

Verizon gave us two short outages last month which affected two of our T1 circuits.
The first outage affected a circuit from Salem to Boston on January 14 from just after 10 am to just before noon.
The second outage affected our circuit from Gloucester to Salem on January 21 for 20 minutes starting at 1 pm.
Both outages were corrected after being reported to Verizon and no reason was given for either outage.

Subscriber Referral Program

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet/On-line service?
Why not do them and yourself a favor?
Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!
They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.
Again this month, over a dozen subscribers are getting their access in February for free - by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!

Internet Training

Have you seen our new web-based training packages?
They are convenient, up-to-date, and very inexpensive.

You can now even take introductory Internet and general computer use courses for free! Just visit our Help Page for access.
