Digital Certificates

We are now offering full 128-bit SSL digital certificates to companies wanting to sell their products online.
A digital certificate is essential to any company becoming involved with e-commerce. The certificate verifies to the shopper that the company they are giving their credit card number to is who they say they are.
The certificate works in conjunction with an encrypted web connection, aka Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to securely transmit sensitive information (e.g., credit card numbers).
One of the most important considerations is its ability to be universally recognized. The certificates we offer are recognized by 99% of all mainstream browsers.
Best of all, we offer these certificates at only $200 per year. The most well-known certificate vendor, Verisign, offers a similar certificate for $895 per year.
For more information, please check our website in the Sales & Services section.

Here Comes the Sun

We have a new addition to our server family, a new Sun Microsystem's UltraSparc server.
This new server will become the platform for many of the new java-based services we are developing for our customers.
We are now installing the application software to support the Java-based programs, including the Tomcat, part of Apache's Jakarta Project.
Some new services should be implemented by the end of the summer. Stay tuned!

Cape Ann T1 Testing

Verizon has agreed to perform an in-depth analysis of our T1 circuit between Gloucester and Salem.
This analysis will include conducting several "stress" tests, which will place a full load on the circuit to see if any failures occur.
The "stress" tests are scheduled for the third week in May (May 14 - 18) between 1 am and 6 am.
Please note that the tests will prevent all subscriber traffic between Salem and Gloucester during those hours.
The goal of this analysis to identify any more potential points of failure in that circuit and to prevent any additional outages in the future.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this proactive testing period.

Help Desk Notes

Aside from the Salem-Gloucester T1 outage, it was another quiet month at the help desk.
Some subscribers continue to try logging in using their real names.
Please remember; you must login using your user name (your email address without the @cove.com part).
As always, if you have any trouble, please call us. After business hours, our new toll free number is 877-221-2116.
We're here to help you!

SysAdmin's Corner

Verizon dealt us another outage on the Salem-Gloucester T1 circuit lasting from 4:45 pm on April 9 to 9:30 am on April 10.
We sincerely hope their upcoming analysis prevents any further service disruptions! Unfortunately, they're the only game in town.
We are very busy with the new server; setting up the operating system, security features and server software packages.
We are also upgrading our web development software to include Macromedia's Dreamweaver UltraDev 4.

Subscriber Referral Program

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet/On-line service?
Why not do them and yourself a favor?
Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!
They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.
Again this month, over a dozen subscribers are getting their access in May for free - by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!
