Happy Holidays!
The Cove staff and I wish all of you a very merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year!
The Community Bulletin Board
At the request of several subscribers, we have developed a full-featured Community Bulletin Board. It is located in the Community Section of our website.
This bulletin board works like a group of chat rooms and is being offered for people to post public announcements, discuss current events, share tips on using a computer, etc.
We are asking everyone to suggest topics for the bulletin board and are seeking volunteers to moderate the resulting topic areas. Practically any topic will be included on this bulletin board. Moderating a discussion area takes little time and is very ea
sy to manage - no technical experience is required!
If you would like to moderate a discussion group, or would like to find out more information about it, please call the office or send an email to webmaster@cove.com.
New Subscriber Referral Promotion!
Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet/Online service?
Why not do them, and yourself, a favor?
We are now offering a New Subscriber Referral Promotion! Simply recommend our service to someone. If they decide to subscribe to our service, and tell us that you referred them, we will give you a free month of access!
They will appreciate your recommendation and you’ll save a little money!
Rate Increases...
Don’t panic! We are not increasing our fees, only the time allotments on our 20/40 and 25/90 subscription plans.
Effective this billing period, the time allotment on the 20/40 plan (i.e., 40 hours for $20) is increased to 50 hours and the 25/90 plan is increased to 100 hours.
Happy Holidays :)
Multi-Link Service
We have also established a new subscription offer for subscribers wishing to log in twice simultaneously - Multi-Link.
The second OEM revision of Windows95 and Windows98 enables users to "multi-link," using two modems and phone lines to increase their access speed.
Multi-Link service is now available at twice your current subscription rate. For example, "multi-linking" a 20/50 subscription will cost $40 per month.
Caps Lock Capers...
We received several calls from people having trouble logging into our service this past month. All were caused by entering a password with the Caps Lock key on. All usernames and passwords are in lower-case and the Caps Lock types letter in upper case, r
esulting in a re-request for your username and password.
It’s a simple, common error - you accidently press the Caps Lock key, then enter your password. You don’t notice that you’ve typed it in upper-case, since your password appears as stars on your screen.
If you get a re-request for your username and password, check the Caps Lock light on the top right corner of your keyboard. If the light is on, you’re typing in upper-case!
SysAdmin’s Corner
In the network management business, no news is good news! We enjoyed a remarkably uneventful month, which allowed us to focus on maintenance, minor improvements and future planning and implementations.
Our upstream providers also had no significant outages to report.
Want to see how well the Internet is performing? We’ve included a link to the Internet Traffic Report at the bottom of the Internet Section of our website. Thanks, Bill R., for the link!
Internet Training
We are still trying to secure a classroom for Internet training on Cape Ann and hope to have encouraging news within the next month or two.
Until we can establish another classroom on Cape Ann, Cape Ann subscribers are invited to attend the Salem classes at half-price!
Classes will he held at our Salem facility in December on the 8th and 22nd and in January on the 12th and 26th. These 3-hour classes are only $20.
Please call the office to reserve your seat!
