Read All About It!We are pleased to announce that our new news server is now operational! Our news server is now providing over 18,000 newsgroups - from a.bsu.* to zip-news.*. We have also developed several "private" newsgroups for the benefit of our subscribers. cove.techtips - an open forum for setting up and optimizing your system for accessing the Internet via the Cove. cove.systemnews - for posting administrative announcements about the Cove network. cove.community.bulletinboard - an open forum for posting events of interest to the public. cove.community.forsale - a no-charge, open forum where Cove subscribers can buy and sell almost anything. cove.community.helpwanted - a no-charge, open forum where businesses can advertise local employment opportunities. cove.community.municipalities - where local governments can post information and citizens can debate local topics. cove.community.schools - where local school systems can post information and parents can discuss topics with school administrators. We hope that these public service newsgroups will become widely used by our local government officials and citizens as a free, easily accessible, open forum for discussing the important issues which affect us all in our daily lives. |

Tech TipsHere are a few examples of trouble calls we encountered last month. Hopefully, by presenting these to you, we can save you the trouble of experiencing the same difficulty. Windows 95 Upgrade If you elect to upgrade to Windows 95, be aware that the software suite is different from that used for Windows 2.X. Trumpet Winsock is not used with Windows 95. Windows 95 has its own TCP/IP stack embedded in its operating system. You may also want to upgrade your Netscape to a 32-bit version, as Windows 95 is a 32-bit operating system. We can easily help you with this upgrade- just call the office! Using Nicknames With Eudora If you choose to use Eudora's nickname feature, be sure to read the instructions! It is easy to configure the nickname feature wrong, which will create havoc when trying to send e-mail. The instructions can be found on our Help Page. |

Trouble With Service? Please Call! Many upgrades and improvements have been made to our network recently - to supply you, our subscribers, with the most reliable service possible. If you are experiencing difficulty with the service, we need you to let us know. Quite often, the trouble is found to be with the subscriber's software setup, which can be quickly corrected over the phone. Don't hesitate to call us - we are here to help! Our office is generally staffed 9am to 9pm Monday through Friday and messages are retrieved regularly on the weekends. If you get our voicemail during the week, it usually means we are on another line and we will get back to you shortly. When leaving a message, please leave your name and phone number, so we know who you are and how to contact you. |
