New Web Hosting Services

Inside this issue:

Our new hosting platform enables us to provide many new web hosting services on both Unix and Windows servers.

We are creating a new web site, hostingcove.com, which will become the portal for our new hosting services. This new site will be available by the start of 2005.

The new hosting platform enables us to provide services for resellers as well as individual hosting customers.

Merry Christmas!

Some new additions to the standard features for web sites hosted on our Unix servers include redirect

URLs, custom directory indexes, custom error documents, new web activity reporting software called AWStats and multimedia (shockwave, flash, MP3, etc.) support. Web sites hosted on our Windows servers also get FrontPage 2002 and ASP/ASP.NET support.

Additional features available on both Unix and Windows platforms include server side includes, PHP4 and a site

New Administrative Office

We are moving our office to Beverly this month.

Our mailing address will still be
PO Box 376
Prides Crossing, MA 01965-0376
.

Our phone numbers will still be 978-741-5300 and 978-282-3399.

The Salem office will now be used exclusively as a network operations center and will house our servers.

Our technicians will be in the Salem office periodically, but they will not be available to manage walk-in visitors.

search engine. Extra services include MySQL and PostgreSQL databases and shopping carts (osCommerce and our own Java cart).

Probably the most significant

improvements involve our new mail services. These include a virtual mail server for each domain, a sophisticated WebMail interface, autoresponders, mailbox aliases, mail forwarding, mail

relay and advanced anti-virus and anti-spam filtering.

The security features on our hosting platform have greatly improved and include advanced firewall and intrusion

protection, password-protected directories and secure ftp and mail. Both SSL and shared SSL are also available.

Help Desk Notes

SysAdmin's Corner

It was a quiet month at the help desk.

Most calls were for setup information.

If you ever need help, please select tech support (Option 2) if you call our main office. This

will enable you to get our dialup access numbers, email settings or our toll-free help desk number.

Please remember, our help desk team is available to you 24 hours a day and the direct, toll free number is
877-221-2116.

This was a quiet month on the network.

Our upstream providers reported no outages and our servers had no downtime.

We have completed migrating all our web hosting customers' sites and most of their email

accounts over to the H-Sphere web hosting platform.

Don is working on the new CoveCam server and Bill is consolidating our old servers so we can create a computer lab mirroring our H-Sphere cluster for testing.

New Subscriber Referral Promotion!

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet or On-line service?

Why not do them and yourself a favor?

Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!

They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.

Again this month, several subscribers are getting their access in December for free - just by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!

Did You Know?

Ever wonder how much time you spend online each month?

Just click on the TimeCheck link on our Administrivia page, enter your login name and month you want to view. You will then see a report with the number of calls made, the total time spent online and your total traffic.

Seasons Greetings!
