Newsletter Changes

Inside this issue:

We are changing the format of the newsletter from a monthly publication to an “information portal” of events and advisories. Also, with no newsletter being published, we will no longer be sending a newsletter via email and postal mail. These changes will begin next month, so this is the last newsletter in this format.

The main reason for changing our format is that our customer base has significantly changed.

Happy 4th of July!

For many years, our customers were primarily dialup users. Now our customers fall into many other categories, each with different interests.

The most effective way to get important information to such a diverse group is to develop a portal with “areas” devoted to each interest group.

The new “information portal” will be developed on our web site and new information will be posted there as it becomes available

We will email the details of the “information portal” once it is completed.

New Number Reminder

As we mentioned last month, we now have a new toll-free number you can call to reach our office.

Our new office number is
888-903-COVE (2683).

We will keep our old numbers (978-282-3399 in Gloucester and 978-741-5300 in Salem) active through 2005 so people can get used to dialing the new number.

The new number dials into our new PBX, which has caller ID and emails a copy of your message if we cannot answer your call.

Discount Dialup Accounts

We are making some additions to our dialup service rates, to include discounts for longer service terms.

The discounts are ten percent quarterly, fifteen percent semi-

annually and twenty percent annually.

For example, we are now offering our basic $20 per month service for $54

quarterly, $102 semi-annually and $192 annually. Similar discounts apply to our $25 and $30 per month services.

Accounts must be paid for in advance of the service period

to be eligible for these discounts.

Please send an email to accounts@cove.com if you would like to take advantage of this offer.

Help Desk Notes

SysAdmin's Corner

It was mainly a quiet month at the help desk.

Most calls were for setup information.

If you ever need help, please select tech support (Option 2) if you call our main office. This

will enable you to get our dialup access numbers, email settings or our toll-free help desk number.

Please remember, our help desk team is available to you 24 hours a day and the direct, toll free number is
877-221-2116.

This was a quiet month on the network.

Our upstream providers reported no outages, though our modem lines went down on the morning of June 30 for a few hours. Our servers had no downtime.

We are now preparing our new web hosting cluster servers; installing the operating systems and the H-Sphere control panel software and then hardening the servers. This process should be completed by the end of August.

New Subscriber Referral Promotion!

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet or On-line service?

Why not do them and yourself a favor?

Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!

They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.

Again this month, several subscribers are getting their access in July for free - just by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!

Did You Know?

Receiving email with a large attachment makes your email program seem like it is not working, but actually it is just trying to download that huge attachment.

This problem is easily solved by first checking your mail, viewing and deleting that message, through our WebMail interface!
