H-Sphere Platform

Inside this issue:

We have begun migrating our web hosting customers over to the H-Sphere platform!

H-Sphere is the most advanced, user-friendly web hosting platform available in the industry today.

The H-Sphere platform migration only involves our web hosting and virtual mail server customers; it does not affect our dialup customers.

For most web hosting customers, this migration involves seven steps:

Time for sailing!

1) moving the web site to a temporary web server, 2) preparing a mail server on the new platform, 3) introducing the new mail platform to the customer, 4) moving the mail

over to the new mail server, 5) preparing the web server on the new platform, 6) moving the web site over to the new web server and 7) introducing the new web hosting platform to the customer.

The migration steps are slightly different for Windows 2000 Advanced Server customers. We are moving their web sites over to the new

10th Year Anniversary!

This issue marks the 10th year of our newsletter!

So much has changed over the years and so many of you have been with us since the beginning.

We have seen dialup speeds improve from 14.4 kbps to V.92, web sites change from simple text to multimedia presentations, home computers grow from '486 beasts with 16 Mb ram to today's

2.8 GHz laptops with 1 Gb ram and nasties like worms, viruses and spam, spam, spam.

Here's to the next ten!

server platform before moving their mail.

Given the number of web sites we are moving and the amount of coordination involved with each customer, we expect the

migration to run well into September and possibly into October.

The H-Sphere platform marks a new direction for Cove services. We will be

expanding our web hosting services to include sophisticated e-commerce solutions, ASP, .NET, PHP, SSI and database capabilities for dynamic web presentations and wholesale accounts for

web hosting resellers.

The H-Sphere platform will also enable us to expand operations into multiple data centers throughout the country.

Help Desk Notes

SysAdmin's Corner

It was a busy month at the help desk!

Most calls were for setup information and instructions on how to receive email.

If you ever need help, please select tech support (Option 2) if you call our main office. This

will enable you to get our dialup access numbers, email settings or our toll-free help desk number.

Please remember, our help desk team is available to you 24 hours a day and the direct, toll free number is
877-221-2116.

This was another quiet month on the network.

Our upstream providers reported no outages and our servers had no downtime.

As described in the headline article, we are now working on migrating our web hosting

customers over to the H-Sphere web hosting platform. This migration will be the primary focus of our efforts over the next few months.

Bill will be visiting data centers around the country for the first half of August. Don will be minding the facilities.

New Subscriber Referral Promotion!

Are you pleased with our service? Do you know someone who is unhappy with their current Internet or On-line service?

Just recommend our service. If they subscribe, we'll give you a free month of access!

They will appreciate your advice and you'll save a little money.

Again this month, several subscribers are getting their access in August for free - just by referring new subscribers.

Everybody wins!
