This image is a fully digital, streaming video of the tall ship, Friendship, viewed from the offices of our good friends at BitWyse Solutions. The Friendship is a full-sized replica of the late 18th century East Indiaman that once sailed out of Salem.

Both vessels have identical dimensions. They are 171 feet in overall length, 27 feet in width, 102 feet high off deck and weigh 342 tons. Like the original, the replica is a fully rigged ship with three masts and 17 sails.

The original vessel was built by Enos Briggs at Stage Point boatyard in Salem and was launched in 1797. She made 17 voyages to China, Java and other Asian and European ports. The original Friendship was captured by the British during the War of 1812.
